Biographical Information:
1951: Born in St. Louis, Missouri;
Interests are in music, chemistry, presidential history, astronomy, and running
marathons.
1973: Received the Bachelor of Music Education degree from
the University of North Texas
1976: Received the Master of Music degree from Emporia (Kansas) State
University
1976-1981: Percussionist with the United States Air Force Strategic Air
Command Band at Offutt Air Force Base;
Omaha, Nebraska
Summers 1984 - 1993: Attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and Northwestern University to study physics, chemistry, and chemical education. Performed with the Missouri Chamber Orchestra, Columbia, MO in the summers of 1990, 1991, 1995, 1996, and 1997.
1998-1999: Staff Scientist with an environmental consulting firm located in Indianapolis, IN performing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and Asbestos Testing
2000: Received the Masters of Science degree in Environmental Science from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University - Bloomington with an emphasis in environmental chemistry.
2000-2005: Chemistry and Physics teacher at Serena High School, Serena, IL
2001-present: Chemistry/Physics lab instructor at Illinois Valley Community College. Teach 2nd semester general chemistry (Chem 1007) in summer and Introduction to Physical Science for humanities majors in the fall. Timpanist and percussionist with the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra since 2003.
I have taught students for twenty-two years in the areas of instrumental and vocal music, chemistry, and physics in the public schools of Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois.
