Commencement 2010

Participant Information

All students who have graduated in August 2009 or December 2009, as well as those who will graduate in May 2010 are invited to participate in Commencement 2010. Commencement will be held Friday, May 21st at 7:30 pm in the IVCC Gymnasium.

Graduation Practice

Graduation practice will be held at 1:30 on Thursday, May 20th. Practice will last no longer than an hour and will assist students with lining up, becoming familiar with the ceremony and organization, and will help IVCC with name pronunciation. If you are unable to attend, you must contact Tracy Morris at 815-224-0437.

Preparation Information

Gowns will be available for pick-up through the IVCC Shipping and Receiving Department beginning May 12th between the hours of 8am and 4 pm. If you have cords or stoles for an honor society, you must contact the advisor for that group to obtain your cords.

Photograph Information

Students will also have the opportunity to purchase photographs from Chappell Photography. Information will be emailed or mailed to students.

Ceremony Information

If you would like to order invitations for the ceremony, there are two options available:

*You may order personalized announcements through Jostens on their website at Jostens website or by calling 1-800-854-7464

*You may be general IVCC announcements through the IVCC Bookstore

Class Rings are also available through Jostens for purchase as well.

Parking: The ceremony will be held in the gym and parking is available in all lots. Shuttle busses will be available to assist guests in reaching the gym. Seating is on a first-come, first served basis. Graduates who have family members needing accommodations are encouraged to contact Tracy Morris well in advance in order to have preferred seating.

Illinois Valley Community College is located in north central Illinois about 100 miles southwest of Chicago, in the city of Oglesby, near La Salle and Peru. To get to the college at 815 N. Orlando Smith Avenue:

From the West

On Interstate 80, take the U.S. 251 exit 75 south. Cross the Illinois River. At the first stop light after crossing the river, turn left. Turn at first left (Orlando Smith Avenue). Proceed north 1⁄4 mile. The college is on the left.

From the North

Take U.S. 251 south through Peru and proceed as above OR take Interstate 39 south to exit 54. Go right on Richard Moyle Highway. Turn right onto Orlando Smith Avenue. Proceed north 1⁄4 mile. The college is on the left.

From the East

On Interstate 80, exit at Interstate 39 South (79A). Go south on Interstate 39 to exit 54. Go right on Richard Moyle Highway to Orlando Smith Avenue. Turn right again. Proceed north 1⁄4 mile. The college is on the left.

From the South

Take Interstate 39 to exit 54. Turn left (west) on Richard Moyle Highway. At Orlando Smith Avenue turn right. Proceed north 1⁄4 mile. The college is on the left.
