Course Purpose
:This course includes the information relative to automatic transmissions and transaxles found on the modern day motor vehicle. Topics covered include: planetary gear operation, application devices, hydraulics, torque converters, diagnosis, and rebuilding of automatic transmissions/transaxles. Also covered, will be the operation, testing, diagnosis and repair of computer-controlled transmissions/transaxles.

Grading
:Your final grade will be computed from the classroom (50%), and the lab (45%), and the instructor's subjective evaluation (5%).
Tardiness Policy
:Every time the student is late for a classroom or lab session 10 points will be deducted from the students total possible points. NO EXCEPTIONS!

1A. Quizzes
There will be three announced quizzes. Make-up quizzes must be done within one week of your absence during the instructor's office hours. If not, zero points will be marked down for your score.
2A. Chapter Summaries
The student is required to write a minimum of a two page summary for each of the eighteen assigned chapters. These summaries will be written in ink or typed (double-spaced). Write on only one side of a piece of paper. Chapter summaries will not be accepted late!
3A. Transmission Report
Each student will be assigned a transmission or transaxle to research by the instructor. The student will write a minimum of a four page typed paper on the assigned transmission. The student is also required to make an application chart.

SAFETY GLASSES MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHEN IN THE AUTOMOTIVE LABORATORY. IT IS THE STUDENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE HIS/HER SAFETY GLASSES ON AT ALL TIMES. IF THE STUDENT IS NOT WEARING SAFETY GLASSES HE/SHE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO STAY IN THE LABORATORY. HE/SHE WILL BE MARKED ABSENT AND WILL HAVE TO MAKE UP THE LAB OBJECTIVES.
