The Majestic Theatre is a crucial part of the identity of Streator, as well as a place of pure escapism. It is a business run on the old-school mentality of hard work and a sense of community, a reminder of the qualities that make small-town life pleasant. Though the building will most likely always stand, it is the activity inside of it that reignites a town with very little else to call its own. A visitor to the Majestic feels like a true guest and is even given the opportunity to do a good deed through the theatre’s charitable endeavors. Though it is easy to dismiss it as “only a movie theatre,” one trip inside confirms that a very special place with a lot of heart is marked by the big, glittering marquee. The Majestic Theatre truly provides a unique reason to visit the town of Streator.
