Edible Car Contest with Teen Mothers

An edible car contest, designed to create interest in engineering technology careers, was organized for teen mothers in the IVCC district in collaboration with the Starved Rock Associates for Vocational and Technical Education (SRAVTE) in spring 2011. 

After hearing a short presentation about engineering technology careers, the young women worked in teams to design, build and race vehicles made entirely of food items.  They completed their vehicles in just under an hour and a half.

The vehicles below demonstrate the creativity that went into the designs.
