Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

A fun, engaging program involving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for girls aged 9 -14.

Students participate in hands-on activities during a typical session.  At left, two girls use the scientific method to make hypotheses about the degree to which various sodas and reagents will react to form soda geysers.  On the right, the girls have the opportunity to experiment and discover what happens when Mentos are placed in soda. The activities are designed to arouse the girls’ curiosity and provide opportunities to practice logical thinking and problem-solving.  They will also incorporate teamwork, communication, and data analysis.  Through the activities, the girls will be empowered with a sense of accomplishment.  They will build self-confidence, and experience first-hand that girls can do math and science.  Also, they will see that involvement in STEM fields can be fun.
