Shark's Tooth
This shark tooth was found in the Pennsylvanian strata near LaSalle. The fossil is in limestone and feels very smooth (as if it were polished). The friendly paleontologists from the Illinois State Geological Survey have confirmed that this is the tooth of a Pennsylvanian shark. The wide teeth were used to crush the shells of prey.
