| Make a custom map or aerial
photo!
Go to the link below and follow the
instructions I have given.

Follow these steps:
- Select "Go to the National Map
Viewer"
- Select "Zoom In" from the menu
on the left side of the map and zoom in on your area of interest.
- Once the map frame shows the area you
want, use the "Layer" menu on the right side of the map to
display what you want. (Selecting the triangle to the right of
the layer name will display the features of the layer.)
- for a topographic map:
- select "Administrative" and
uncheck "Reference"
- select "Elevation" and
uncheck "Shaded Relief"
- select "Orthoimagery" and uncheck "Index/Status"
- select "Transportation"
and uncheck "Roads"
- select "Topographic Map"
and check "USGS Quadrangles"
- select the "Redraw
Map" button at the bottom of the menu
- for an aerial photo:
- select "Administrative" and
uncheck "Reference"
- select "Elevation" and uncheck
"Shaded Relief"
- select "Transportation"
and uncheck "Roads"
- select "Ortho-Imagery"
and check "DOQ" and uncheck "Index/Status"
- select the "Redraw
Map" button at the bottom of the menu
- for other maps: use the layers and
redraw button to experiment
- Once you have displayed the area
and features you are interested in, use the scroll button on the left
side of the map to scroll the menu down to print. (Note:
You will need Adobe Acrobat to print a map.)
- your browser
will need to allow pop-ups
- select "Print" from the
menu
- select "Create a Printable
Map"
- select "view a printable
map"
- select "print" or the
printer button
- close the window
