IVCC Celebrates Day of the Dead
Wednesday, October 29, 12:30 - 3:15 PM
in IVCC Fireplace Lounge B216
with Memorial Ofrenda and Calaveras Activities

Join the World Language Organization and the Diversity Committee in celebrating Day of the Dead, "El día de los muertos" .

Beginning on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 an <ofrenda >, or memorial altar, will be set up in the display case in Jacobs Library.  The ofrenda will be on display through Wednesday, November 5.

All members of the IVCC community are invited to build their own ofrenda at home in memory of loved ones, of admired figures from history, of beloved pets, etc. Suggested items for decorating an ofrenda include pumpkins and gourds, flowers, photos, drawings of favorite items or activities of the people being remembered, and more.

During these día de los muertos celebrations,   come to the IVCC Fireplace Lounge  to view a film about the Day of the Dead celebration in Mexico, make an <esqueleto>, or write your own "calavera", a poem in honor of a loved one who is on the other side.

These activities are co-sponsored by The World Language Organization and the IVCC Diversity Committee.
