WebBoard is an easy to use, reliable, and versatile conferencing program. WebBoard can increase communication in on-campus courses, and it would be possible to conduct an entire online course using nothing but WebBoard. WebBoard is installed on the college server, and instructors can receive WebBoard accounts by e-mailing the request to 555@ivcc.edu or by calling extension 555.

In WebBoard, students can . . .

  • join in asynchronous discussions ("not at the same time"),
  • join in synchronous discussions ("at the same time," chat),
  • read the comments of all other students in open conference areas,
  • respond to comments from the instructor and other students,
  • receive private messages in private conference areas,
  • be alerted to any new messages,
  • add new topics to discussion areas,
  • upload and download word-processing documents or other files,
  • send e-mail to the instructor and to other students,
  • establish their own accounts the first time they log in,
  • among other possibilities!
