Using WebBoard

WebBoard for IVCC's Faculty Summer Institute: http://www.ivcc.edu:8080/~fsi2000/

WebBoard is an easy to use, reliable, and versatile conferencing program. It would be possible, in fact, to conduct an entire online course using nothing but WebBoard. WebBoard is installed on the college server, and instructors can receive WebBoard accounts by contacting Bob Hunter at extension 521.

In WebBoard, students can . . .

  • join in asynchronous discussions ("not at the same time"),
  • join in synchronous discussions ("at the same time," chat),
  • read the comments of all other students in open conference areas,
  • respond to comments from the instructor and other students,
  • receive private messages in private conference areas,
  • be alerted to any new messages,
  • add new topics to discussion areas,
  • upload and download files,
  • send e-mail to the instructor and to other students,
  • establish their own accounts the first time they log in,
  • among other possibilities!

Please refer to the printed handout for more information about using WebBoard.
