I'm a passionate educator, avid reader and writer, former high school English and Spanish teacher, and current professor of literature and composition at Illinois Valley Community College. In addition to my teaching duties, I also direct  the Writing Center at IVCC. I received my A.A. from IVCC. Later, I earned my B.A. in English education (with a Spanish endorsement) from Illinois State University, and more recently attained my M.A. in English, specializing in literature and film, from Northern Illinois University. Finally, I was recently certified as  Master Online Teacher through the Illinois Online Network. I am also the proud receipient of the 2014 Stephen Charry Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence.

I enjoy reading, writing, yoga, outdoor activities like canoeing, and spending time with my husband, children, family, and friends. I have  particular interests in fiction, poetry, and film, as well as the relationship between film and literature.

As an alumnus of IVCC, I understand how powerful education can be, and I'm delighted to help students from all walks of life achieve academic, personal, and professional success.
